 As noted in the Fast Food challenge image, this shot was all about the set-up. Here are a few tidbits....
- used glass from large picture frame for table
- put gift wrapping tissue under glass to diffuse light
- used two desklamps to supply backlighting (some effort was spent here to ensure even lighting, no shadows, etc.)
- used some books to prop up the food, so that it was even with the top of the coke glass (to ensure I got equal DOF across the items)
- I needed to tape the straws to the glass, otherwise they floated around (I also cut the straws to ensure the bending part was right at the top of the glass and thus in focus)
- I practiced spreading the mustard on a plate a few times before applying to the hot dog
- Most of the time spent was in trying to angle the plate just right, so that it was even on both sides of the finished image

I pointed out a few other non-essential items in the room, just for fun. :-)

looks like my studio, just add two 100# dogs to the accessories... ;}

oh and i don't have a softbox yet.
