This Yak plane was in the plane parking area after its show at the Bundaberg Air Show in Queensland Australia.

Initally I thought I had stuffed the photo as it looked really dark on my camera's LCD screen but when veiwed on my monitor it looked great even before editing.

Editing: OMG I'm not a big fan of lots of editing so I suppose for this challenge I haven't done much compaired to how much I think others will edit plus I'm no where near as good as most others at editing.

here goes.

- RAW edits
- Duplicate image
- Curve layer (just tweeked)
- Brightness/contrast layer (just tweeked)
- Create 2nd duplicate of original photo beneath layers
- Clone out distracting plane tail at far right of photo and recreate the far right hanger using clone and darkened slightly using burn to give the appearance of it being a different hanger.
- Used Clone & Heal to darken sky only from the far right hand side propeller down to the hanger to complete the dark surounds of the plane, all the rest was like that and I liked that effect, it kinda highlighted the art work on the plane.

Tried dodge/burn layer but did not like it so removed.
Tried Neat image (Free version) but it reduced the colour saturation so went back to the original .jpg image.

Then simply resized and saved for web.

I love this image I hope others do to but I don't think it will rate high against all the PS experts at DPC.

This is a very dark image. Shooting shiny planes can be difficult as exposing for the highlights will underexpose most of the rest of the shot as it has here. Also the evidence of some cloning on the right side of the frame stands out.

Shot earlier or later in the day when the lighting was better would probably make a shot like this work even better.

Cool color range in this shot, looks like you took this at the perfect time of day.

Nice idea. Sky and foreground are too dark.
