I love the darkness, this is absolutely stunning and one of my favs so far!

That's one black bird! Great shot.

As for DNMC, as far as I'm concerned the only requirement is that there be some blur in the shot. Where and how you use it is up to you.

This is a butt kickin' image. I also like "dark' images a lot, but normally they go "thud" when they hit the bottom in the challenges here. This is just excellent! The eyes are the key here.

Yeah sharpness is creeping back into these. It does have a shallow DOF but it might be hard to tell here.

Oh jeeeeez. . . how awesome is that! At first from the thumb, it looks all black, but then when you click on it, that face comes peering out from the darkness, and really grabs you! Wow! These photos are spectacular!

Super nice dark image. Just enough information to make this mysterious and beautiful.

Love it. It's definitely not to dark - I love dark too. The darkness makes it a beautiful, beautiful low-key image (that would get bombed in a challenge.) Fantastic. :)

Very interesting moving from a thumbnail in which only the blurry hint of an image in a black square to a larger version in which the beak and eyes are sharp and the rest of the bird is defined well enough to be separate from the background (which is blurry, in fact). Very original contribution to the challenge, and a great image too.

Too dark??? No stinkin' way. This is sooo fab. As good as any deer shot you've ever done (and they are fabulous). I tried to capture some blackbirds the other day and just didn't come close. This is fantastic. Going to favs.

i love dark .. and i particularly love things that arent immediately obvious .. so this satisfies both .. i'm thinking edgar allen poe or some poem about a raven which i cant remember right now .. something about 'quoth the raven' .. all very dark and atmospheric .. love this image ... :)

I like the dark on dark, there is just enough separation from the back ground. I think it should be a challenge. :)
