I'm sure everyone else will have a church/cathedral picture, but I just happened to be at a church myself, and so... :)

*post challenge*

Yes, yes, I know it was a rather strange title. I should have spent more time thinking one up. :)

As for darkness - it was meant to be a low-key image...Although it probably did look extremely black on a few voter's screnes. Personally, I still love it dark and moody! Thank you very much for all the comments though. :)

I think the title is great :) And I love the dark intimidating low key-ness of it. But then, I do tend to find extreme religiosity rather intimidating in itself.

don't you love people here ramming their interpretation down your throat instead of appreciating the art for what it is? What is it about the ability to comment that makes them think that's acceptable?

I think your message is loud and clear - the darkness of the image and the title speak very clearly to me - I appreciate your artistic uses of the tools, and I love the way your photos reflect your view of the world. You communicate emotion in your work - a think many here will never grasp nor be able to do.

Now get up there and delete that apology. The fact they don't agree with you does NOT make them any "righter" than you. In fact, it makes them wrong in my book. It's your art, your execution, by definition you are right. They can disagree with your "rightness" but it doesn't make you "wrong".

Sorry, I'll put my righteous indignation away now.

I don't know how you feel about religion and God - if this reflects it or not - but He is one of my best friends. I highly recommend getting to know Him in whatever way your heart leads you to. :-)

Too dark. If you use PS CS2 or CS3, try exploring the image->adjustments->shadow/highlights tool, which will bring out details in the shadows (and highlights, but the shadows are the issue here).

Aside from that, it might help the composition to crop out the left side stuff so the large arch is on the left side of the picture.

I think the shot may have worked better if it was centered and maybe if there was more light.

way too dark. I understand that the combination of church interiors and basic editing is extremely hard, but this one is so dark, I can hardly see the lines that will have to make the composition. (3)

Or inspiring - something to help us lift our eyes off of our daily existence and think about something beyond our little existence. 'Tis a matter of perspective.

Not sure how your title speaks about "the Sacred"...? A beautiful building and an atmospheric shot nevertheless.

Great shadows and highlights. Truly beautiful -- but the shot looks a bit tilted.
