| cropping out the right third of the image could help a lot but i am not seeing the connection to the challenge |

I'm curiuos why you didn't use a full 640 image size. With the fast paced voting that we do I think that an image starts at a disatvantage if it isn't full-sized. With the file size limitation its a can be challenge to preserve IQ with file size I guess.
And a tighter crop might also have helped this image. I almost missed the hummer at first glance.
