Just a cello top. Nothing fancy. Thank Zeus for advanced editing. There were many nicks in the wood that look much better now. I should have done this for the reflection challenge, but it certainly does fill the frame too.

This is my first serious entry on DPC (my previous 'sacred' entry was intended as a joke) and I'm a little surprised it didn't even make it out of _4_ territory. I really thought more people would be able to see it, as posthumous commented, with a unique sense of "false perspective". I am a string player and have taken (and seen) countless ordinary pictures of the beautiful lines on these instruments as strangeghost suggests, but I intended to catch something a little deeper in the finish of the instrument against that well defined f-hole.

To score well I supose subtle artistic intent may unfortunately be lost in the voting. I came here to learn the basics of composing and executing shots and, like any art, it's usually best to master the basics and "standard repertoire" before going out on a limb. Still, I like this shot.

Yup, just revisited this after several months and several entries that scored higher. I still like this a great deal and think it was badly under rated, although I understand now why it did not do well in this voting environment.

A good idea but ultimately comes across as a little too ordinary and uninspiring. Musical instruments, especially woods, IMO, have lots of potential. Look for more lines, curves and points of interest.
