 This is a macro shot of the bark of an old tree. For some time I had wanted to shoot the way the cracks in the bark made me think about dried river beds and canyons. The "faux" sunset is the use of a flashlight to shine a bit of light as today was really grey and rainy.

PP: from RAW file, adjusted exposure and contrast then in Photoshop crop, clone tool to remove some spider's web, various layers & blend modes to deepen the color of the canyon, a little burn on the faraway "trees" (which are really moss on the bark), save for web.

I don't know if it was underrated but my afterthought is that for something like this, I would have been better with something that can provoke some kind of emotion in the viewer. I think the idea for my image was good but against close-up of beautiful eyes and faces, it didn't stand a chance...

Massively underrated picture IMO.
Totally met the brief of filling the frame got an 8 from me.

Nice. Could almost be faux tilt-shift of a jungle/valley rift. That's what my eye first told me.

Your title made me do a double-take. :-) I like the closeup and the texture. The blurry lower left area is a little distracting to me, but its a neat photo.
