"The sun'll come up, to-morrow" goes the song. But sometimes I wonder if it's true, and in the dead of night, I awake, wondering if this is the first day that it won't. I go to the shore and I wait. And it is not until that first light, before the sun is up, when the sun's color washes the earth more gently, more subtly than at any other time, that I can rest again, knowing, the sun will come up. No question this meets the challenge to my mind, and it captures a time most of us don't make the effort to see (even if we're awake when it happens). Lovely. |
