 My first submission with my new 24-105. I'm pretty sure it'll tank, but IMO the bokeh is the subject here. The butterfly is simply a decoration. =)

I'd like to say that this was a tribute to Jason's Lady in Green, but in truth I only realized afterward that this was the same type of butterfly (and same lens) as his:

Hey Michelle,

The light in the pavilion is roughly equivalent to an overcast day, because the roof is basically white plastic. So there was a lot of ambient light. Being an advanced editing challenge, I also dodged the butterfly a bit to make it stand out, though not a lot was needed.

Can you tell me how the butterfly was lit underneath? Or was it? It has some very pretty colors!

Great job with the bokeh. Very colorful too. Center comp works well with the branch cutting through it.

The bokeh is wonderful in this however I feel that to meet the challenge better the butterfly should fill the frame.

Very nice image, but I really think it doesn't meet the challenge. It's a stretch to consider the background of a butterfly shot the actual subject.

A beautiful picture, but not quite sure whether the subject in itself fills the frame. If you are 'punished' for this by voters then dont despair as the shot itself is great

stunning bokeh...perhaps a square crop would have been better...I would have cropped the left side third of the image
