(Used similar technique on my 'PI' entry) - I attached a sheet of black tag-board to similar sized piece of cardboard (to create a rigid black surface to work with). I then cut a 'lens size' circular hole through both pieces (in the center). Now I positioned/fastened the candy around the circular opening (on the black tag board side). The camera needs to be setup/positioned behind the tag board for the photo - I place the prepared tag board on an easel with the camera positioned (on tripod) behind the easel looking through the hole (as if to be looking into the face of an artist as he were painting). My subject (daughter) then sat down in front of the easel and position her eye very close to the hole with the candy surrounding it. I can now see the reflection of the candy on her eye - presto!. (Note: Try to find a bright naturally lit location for best results.) - Because the camera lense is black, it can 'hide' within the pupil (black portion) of the eye and escape being seen in the photo. - On some of my various exposure attempts you could actually (faintly) see the lense in the pupil of the eye.
