Nice idea, generally well done. Some comments: seems a tad tilted, it would be nice to have had enough light in the glass to see some color in the wine. Mostly centered composition is not as dynamic. Use of DOF is excellent -- just missed the DOF challenge!

Do they?

I like this a lot, very moody and has a distinct character about it. Not postcard pretty yet very moving. The colors and the darkness are very effective.

Glass seems to be going downhill! Could use more light on the subject

This photo is out of focus. Give you 4

A photo and focus. (Sorry, obnoxious, but I couldn't resist.) The composition is too steril - offset the wineglass so the fire is more visible. And, seriously, something needs to be in focus. Personally, I think both the fire and the glass should be in focus, since they're both named subjects of your photo. A nice idea, and a tough shot, but you just didn't pull it off.

with the background completely blurred out like that I think the foreground really needs to be a lot sharper to be effective.

Nice effect... glass could be a bit sharper.

I would like to see the glass not centered and more focus, the edges are a wee bit soft. Good luck in the challenge.

I know that you're trying for a relaxed, subdued mood here. I just find the effect a little soft and a little lacking. 3
