Critique Club feedback -
I really have no background or credentials for commenting on graphical art. I think you did a good job with the painting, and this looks like a lot of pieces of art in this genre that I have seen before, so I have to assume that it is a good example of what it is. |

this picture looks so interesting. the only thing that looks real here is the couch, especially its texture, yet it looks miniature-like that one might see in a doll house at the same time, as well.
i agree, "the floor was sufficiently blue" would have been a perfect title :) very cool colour composition. |

oh and I varied the brush size, made it smaller for edges. Also, I painted her at full size before I resized it. |

I just selected colors with the color picker and then painted areas of her skin to more or less match the shading in the photo. I might have used the eyedropper on her skin for some of the shades. It helps to do some real life painting first. :) |

Hopper, Fairfield Porter, they would agree that you nailed this one. I'd love to know how you "painted" this in PS i am just venturing into that device of wonder!

Don - I think it's really cool that you achieved this effect without a filter. Kudos for your creativity! |

Love the simple color tones and palette. The texture of the rug and couch really adds a lot to the shot with the post processing you did. Too low of a score, especially for a FreeStudy. |

The colors are spectacular and to me, their vivid nature is in stark contrast to her expression, which is... emotive. Lovely feel, great PP. |

"The floor was sufficiently blue" would have made for a good title. :) The artist that this work reminds me of is on the tip of my tongue and I just can't get to it - I think this is brilliantly done. A bit fauvist, too, maybe... Love those big blocks of rich color. That you took an ordinary photograph (some would use the slur "snapshot") and thought to turn it into this fantastic study of color and form is stunning. Would expect to see something just like this hanging on a wall at MOMA. |

I like the simplicity of this. It's interesting that you removed the detail and texture from the woman, while maintaining it in the sofa and rug. |

Interesting editing from you - would not have thought this yours. My favorite part (other than what I commented during the challenge) is in the text - "The floor was sufficiently blue." I think there's an entire poem there somewhere. |

Sorry but this looks too much like an illustrator drawing and not a photograph and that´s totally not my taste, gave this a 3. |

Interesting toon shaded look. I like how the color of the subjects clothes mirror the background and foreground. |

What I see doesn't quite jive with your title - I see the plasticity of what we've become as a generation of television-watching zombies. In that sense, this is effective. |

I think the posterization detracts a bit from the emotion. |
