 Using sunlight - setting sun, filtered through the trees. The color version was too red (because of the sun), so the b/w isn't so distracting (like usual - I love a b/w pic!).

I don't feel like this one effectively communicates the theme. It feels very sad. I think it could be more effective if the child was looking up. It's a beautiful image, but not appropriate for the theme.

Great expression and crop !! B&W is a great way of dealing with what is likely to to be a distracting background in color. The light to her left side is a bit too hard, the resulting hard shadow of her nose does not work for my taste. Filling light to her right or light diffuser to her left would have helped. I am giving you a 7, would have been an 8 or 9 with better lighting.

POWERFUL lighting! And nice use of low-key. The background is a little distracting... but I'm just being picky. :) Superb image.

I wonder if he utilizes the power of "silent treatment". When I was a young kid and getting yelled out for bad deeds and I to explain I would sit in silence. good image, got me thinking 7

This is a lovely image, nice light, very sharp. IMO it doesn't quite convey the theme but is a great shot.
