Did you ever want to shoot something and just could not do it? I had a horrible time trying to get a good bokeh shot for this challenge. I tried in studio, but those just don't produce the circles you want. I even went with complete bokeh, no subject, and did South Broad Street from Pine St to city hall with nothing but cirles of lights in a V shape ending with the clock circle of city hall tower. Nothing really worked.
I went to both local gardens: Sartain Street on Sunday and Kater Street on Monday. I shot more than 500 hundred shots, well not all for bokeh but the majority were, till I came to this at the end of the shooting at Kater Street on Monday. Everything in this seems to work for me. The subject flower is very interesting on its own without a butterfly or bee, the backlighting of the the setting sun and the bokeh from other of the same flowers and multi colored zinnias that were in the background. I am very happy with this one. The subject flower is off centered and I tried to make it more so but the tentacles of this plant are so sprawling in the image, the cropping did not really help, so I let it alone. I know this will suck....but not as much as my Free Study....it is apparently just not possible. Well it might be possible but if it is, I'll take my lumps on this one as well.
Besides...its pretty. LOL!
Post: Convert from raw with a +0.33 exposure compensation in PSElements 3.0. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. NeatImage. Sharpen. Layer of curves adjustment. Resize. Sharpen. |

| Very nice bokeh in the background. The main subject looks to be sharpened a little too much, but at the same time, it isn't quite in focus. Wonderful pink color though! |
