No black & White conversion here :)

How was it made:
Well the setup was very basic. I had my camera on a tripod, in front of it, about a feet or so away, there was the glass filled with water. About 2 feet behind the glass was the background which was half velvet and half white wall :D

I used a flashgun to light up the background. Extra care was taken so that no light would hit the glass, because that would show up as unwanted reflections.

Black and white version:

Interesting. I wondered if it was all about lighting the background, but when I tried I was fairly sloppy about it and letting light still spill on the glass. Maybe I'll give it another go. Thanks for sharing!

i LOVE the idea. I am not too hot about the blue line. I am too curious about the setup.

Very neat shot, the slight blue tones distract a little but this is a really cool idea & you carried it out nicely!

hence the blue line? ;-) I do like the symmetry.

I actually am planning a B&W without conversion as well. keep an eye out for that one :-)

Very neat idea. I can only imagine what you had to go through.

I like the idea behind this shot. The execution seems, IMHO, a bit harried. Not sure if it's because your monitor is not calibrated right but the black has a few tones in it and is not a solid black. THere is a blue tinge as well, not sure if it's intentional, and tho I like it a lot, it does not go well with the bw concept we are charged to capture in this side challenge.

The comment is interesting in your details and I am left rather curious to hear how this was achieved.

Post details! I am going to try it tonight. Looks good. Is the blue line CA?

Congrats on the shot! Very much worth the experience and effort! I agree that the blue line is a bit distracting. Perhaps with some finer editing you could clone this out?

Nice graphic image. The blue lines are a little distracting ... did you try to convert this to B+W and see if it made a difference? Looks like a lot of hard work went into making this image. Be nice if you could post the details as to how you accomplished this.
