When I was a small child my Grandad would say 'Shall we go and see the Malteser tree?' Maltesers (for those who don't know) are a malted honeycomb biscuit ball covered in chocolate. I would scream 'Yey!' and off we would go. This would only happen once a year of course as the tree came into fruit once a year. We would drive for what seemed like hours to a remote spot in the Ribble Valley until we came across a very special tree laden with many bags of Maltesers. With a stick, my Grandad would knock a few bags down for me and off we would go to devour the goodies.
I'd just like to thank my Grandad (wherever he is) for being so wonderful to create this magical experience for me. He must have traveled miles just to prepare the tree before I had even woken up. I only wish I could have known him better.

The story is worth a lot. Magic in childhood. Thanks for sharing.

what a great photograph. I love how it shows two ways of life. The sad and desolate and the little tidbits of life that make everything worth it. I love the clarity and the colors used in this photo.

Looks like a great tribute, IMHO getting a bit closer to the nearest package mite have kicked it up a bit more but either way I think it looked pretty good.

Great desat and overall the image looks as if it could be used in an advert for malteasers. Has a slightly dreamlike quality about it

I'm usually not a fan of selective desat, but it works wonderfully here! One of my faves in this challenge!

solid composition, good sky - the selective desat really shows off the candy 6
