 Did a lot of D&B to get this poppy center to stand out...

Edited to add: this was taken in the Spring, outdoors, in natural lighting.

dodge and burn did this well! the center pop almost jumps off my screen! haha, its getting late i can tell because im screwing up my words.

This is excellent! I love the way the sun is dancing on the stamens and the small highlight at the back. Good stuff.

Gorgeous macro. I love the light and shadows you captured. Detail is superb. Would like to see this with a bit tighter crop on the top and right hand side to bring this into "square".

the D&B worked a treat !! .. i'm assuming you mean dodge and burn ??.. beautiful photograph, looks excellent in black & white .. love that bright light behind the petal .. it gives this a dramatic feel .. :)

I really like the lighting in this shot. Not usually a big fan of B&W flower shots but this is one that definately stands out.
