Challenge: Your Shadow (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Canon EOS-10D

Aperture: 5.6

Yes, this really is my own shadow.

10D with 24-70/2.8L on tripod facing straight at the basement wall, 550EX remotely triggered by ST-E2 on floor at about a 45º angle to the wall, me halfway between the flash and the wall, just out of the view of the camera. 10 second self timer, ran to stool, assumed various poses. About 20 takes before I said "that's enough".

I think this one worked the best because it fit just about perfectly within the 3:2 frame. Cropped just a tiny bit and a touch of cloning...

The bottom of the wall is a little distracting. It's an interesting concept, but the photo comes off a little boring.

I like it... The only thing that I´d change is the white and old wall... Try it in another wall...

Great composition! Love the way you filled the frame. A couple of small disrtactions: The jaggie lnes on the bottom of the image (cracks on the wall?) pull my eye like a magnet. Also Your shadow is sharper around the stool and back of the subject but fuzzy around the hand and head. If you could rearrange the subject/lighting to make the head/hand sharper it would be a superb shot!

Rodan? I am gong to make this comment in all seriousness: this shot might be more effective if the subject were not wearing clothing. . . preferablly nothing (except maybe underware). The clothing gives the figure a round shape without dimension or too much form. I am not sure if that is a hood of a shirt or a shoulder in back of the neck. Also, there needs to be some negative space, in this case light, in the form to give it shape. For example under the arm. Hope this was helpful and not hurtfull.

Neat composition, with a nice choice of background - not too plain but not obtrusive.

this has a well defined shadow that is very expressive in its pose. I wish the subject wasn't so crowded in the frame however.
