 Candid of my nephew as he explains the nature of his "Pallid Bat". I was struck by the sweetness and vulnerability of his little mouth opening. This is among the first photos I've taken with my new D80. It was handheld, with afternoon sunlight (diffused by dog smeared window) behind the subject. I used a 50mm lens at F/1.8, ISO 400, Optimize image preset Portrait. Shutter speed was 1/400s without flash. I adjusted contrast, sharpening and brightness in Nikon Capture NX (my first foray into that world of editing). I had trouble maintaining the image quality when resizing for upload, lost the natural skin tones and sharp detail of the little fuzzy cheeks.
