I like the detail on the pitcher. You might try this on a non-reflective non-patterned surface (black velvet comes to mind). For me, the stark shadow coming off to the right makes too strong a contrast with the tile, and the tile edges (especially the intersection at the far right) come into play, competing for your attention. |

What a pretty pitcher. Nice gray tones. I have trouble with those smooth surfaces too. When you figure it out, please let me know.

Nice study of light! I also love the deep shadows that you refer to. The blown specular highlights are distrcting though at the base and lip of the pitcher. Could you create a little "softbox" out of something to put on the flashlight? |
