 Just wanted something to update! This actually isn't a shoehorn technically because I had this idea in mind when shooting :) Leaves falling in the swimming pool signifies summer closing and fall arriving. Somehow I don't think it will be popular with the voters, but I like it.

This also isn't as sharp as I would like because this was late in the evening and I shot with the 85mm at 1/60 handheld with the lens wide open. More reason to get low votes!

Wow, I'm truly shocked that this scored so high. Thank you all for your comments and votes. There is a lot wrong with this technically; very slight camera shake with the slow shutter speed for one. Also as a couple of people mentioned there were "spots" and trash in the water that I really wanted to clone out but couldn't with basic editing. Thank you all for overlooking those flaws.

The title tries to make this fit - but it's a stretch. Beautiful blues in this one. A dead leaf is certainly incongruous with the water color and definitely not evocative of the closing of summer for me.

This is such a subtle photo. I really like it and hope it does well for you (although given that the first time I looked at it it didnt immediately slap me round the face I wonder how it will do with speed votes). Outsanding focus dof and colouring. The boarder also works very well. Bump to 8

This is an amazing shot. The leaf is perfect. The colors are fantastic. The ripples are mesmerizing and I hope my 10 helps you get a ribbon on this 'cuz it's a winner.
One thing... I would have spotted out the hot pixel and the sensor dust on the right and left sides of the ripple on the right toward the front. Also looks like a little sensor dust on the same ripple near the bend. If it's not sensor dust, it sure looks enough like it that I bet you'd run the DQ gauntlet clean anyway.

Nice composition, lighting and I like the blurred water background. A wee bit of a stretch for this challenge. If you had cloned out a couple of spots around the leaf and the white spot on the right hand side, I would have scored it a point higher.
