 Shot from an airliner on approach to LAX ... edited to try and make it look like a model.

-Handheld
-Gradient selection to isolate top
-Duplicated BG and applied Gaussian Blur at 33 pixel radius through gradient mask
-RGB Curve
-USM at 12%/48 dia/TH = 0 applied twice (enhances contrast)
-USM at 66%/0.6 dia/TH = 5 applied three times
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 10/10 = 391kb

Yeah, I've actually done that a bit compared to my first version, though I decided to leave the sky; I'll see if I can move the margin where the blur begins to just above the first building.

The effect doesn't seem to be as effective on this one. Maybe narrowing the gap for what's sharp and cropping out most of the sky would help... to me it just seems like LA has some really bad smog, not so mini.
