I think you've got an interesting subject here. It's old, it's unusual, it's full of interesting shapes and details.
Really the challenge here is how to present it. Some thoughts on this particular approach would be to come out wide a bit so the object doesn't feel cramped in the frame. I'd also rotate the shot a bit to the right to level out some of the main horizontal lines.
I'm way behind on comments so you may have already moved on, but it might be worth shooting this thing from different angles as well as isolating 'pieces' of it. The back wheel with that handle looks like it could make for an interesting head-on shot in a square crop for instance.
I remember you were playing with some lighting - the way you spilled some light on the background is great and pops this thing out a bit. |

This is the hand crank style. The lighting was two flashlights and my silver reflecter. All held by me and I had to set the timer and. It was a shot that I was planning for a while and I should not have rushed it. I was dog tired from work and went to bed about a minute after I took this shot, so I'll reshoot this and post another for today, day 15.
Thank you for the comments they help so much. :-} MAX! |

This is just like my mother's WHICH STILL WORKS. Don't make em like that anymore, eh? I agree with //www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php?USER_ID=77196. Another low level light would bring out so much more in this shot. |

Fun shot. Those old sewing machines are great! |

Um. Nice subject - this brings back some childhood memories. I find the image too dark overall - there are some gorgeous markings that blend too much into the background. Also, the lighting is uneven from left to right - I'd prefer a little more light at the left side of the photo. Is this a pedal model, or just hand crank? |
