This chair was my grandfathers and is approximately 100 years. It was handmade just for him. The white bowl was my grandmothers, as was the canning bottle and the white cloth on the chair. The black rock house is the house I grew up in.

Nice still life. Bit more contrast, bit brighter overall, and get the bowl and jar in the framewould be my only siggestions.

Nice subject matter for the composition. You may want to soften the BG and the subject is a bit too soft and maybe just a tad out of balance. Perhaps turn the chair a little askew and to the right. Of course then you'd have to move the pears to the bottom left. Crank up the contrast some.... Then again, maybe I'm over compensating.

Thanks for sharing the story of this photo and the subjects within. :)

I like the arrangement of this still life photo. The angle of the chair, leaving parts of the canning jar and white bowl outside the frame...that all works very well IMO.

The monitor I'm using at work isn't the best by any means. What I'm seeing in this image is big potential but it's coming up a tad short (again, probably this monitor). The 'white' cloth and basin aren't white - they're medium gray. An adjustment to (histogram, curves, levels - pick one) and a healthy shot of contrast, would really make a difference I think. Obviously JMO. :P

Very nice scene. I love the story behind it. The smooth texture of the chair stands out against the rough texture of the stone.
