This is either going to do well or it's going to bomb...

I'm let down by my technicals, namely that nothing in the image is particularly sharp. This is down to using a hand-held camera with a slow shutter speed. Why oh why didn't I use a tripod??!!?? The low resolution and lots of sharpening helps.

I've also cloned out two cars at the back of the picture that were moving. I wanted everything on that road to be 'still'

POST: thought it might bomb lol. judging by comments I think a lot fo people didn't feel it met the challenge, partly because others had a different definition of "still life" from me. Oh well, you live and learn.

I'm a bit of a stickler in the DNMC stakes - can't see the point in setting a challenge if you're not going to meet it - but i actually think this shot 'interprets' the concept quite successfully/imaginatively. I like the way it 'mirrors' the obvious interpretation of capturing a moving element within a still landscape, and the challenge becomes to capture a still element in a moving landscape. I think it meets the challenge quite interestingly.
For the execution to really work though I think a tripod would have been essential - the 'still' bits really need to be 'still' and the camera shake spoils that important element of the illusion.
Good shot at the challenge though.

How about the fences or street signs or the sign in the parking '30'

One thing that makes still life what it is, is the break from the candid/documentary technique. While some of the cars are still they don't make for a convincing still life because this is just documenting what you saw. In other words, you didn't set this shot up.

Seems like a snapshot to me. Some camera shake is visible as well. I'm afraid I would not call this a still life, either.

This isn't a still life, which really needs to be something arranged by you.

There is nothing really "still" in the photo. Even the trees are moving a little. Great idea though.

The focus seems a bit off. Great idea though!

Plenty of movement but no still life...

I'm sure you know that this would have been much more effective had the rest of the shot been in sharp focus... the scene isn't really what I would consider to be a "still life" in the first place, unfortunately.
