A Redneck in more ways than one, eh, Alan? That's quite a burn you've got there. ;) So sorry this got slammed - soft focus is not easy to do. If you had more distance between yourself and the fence, the background would have been much more abstracted and blurred and you would have stood out more strikingly in front of it, even in soft focus (if that's the sort of effect you wanted). |

Finally, we get to see Alan. This is better than most of my self portraits. |

there is a big difference between OOF and having part of the photo be soft on purpose to add to the photo. 3 |

This is hard......I gave this a 3 for a couple of reasons. It's too out of focus, and there is no way because of that for me to tell what this man's expression is like that made you want to convey ths image. Though from a technical side, you made the error of having his head almost directly centered, his angle shifts the whole subject off to the left leaving me with an unbalanced feeling. A tigfhter crop at the top to eliminate the tree would have been helpful as well. I hope you find my comment constructive and helpful. |

While it is soft, it is a bit too blurry. |

I didn't understand the theme. Technically it looks out of focus not a soft focus, also composition can be better by tighter cropping. |

I think there should maybe be something to focus on in the photo like maybe the face in focus or something. It hurts my eyes since it is so blurry rather than soft but it is still a good idea and makes me feel tired like in 5:30 in the morning feeling :] |

It looks like this was just taken out of focus. |

this looks more like out of focus than soft focus I'm afraid - and it looks like someone is going for brown on purpose. No vote from me... |
