 Went out alone that night for some borealis scouting. Was really refreshing to go out alone, been kindof busy the last couple of weeks and really needed to get away for a couple of hours. Borrowed Henný´s new Ipod Nano after uploading a couple of Tool records and was listening to Lateralus when I shot this, was a nice mix.

Anyway, this is taken by lake Þingvallavatn, by the south shore. Am waiting for snow so the foreground can be lit a little bit as well but guess that won´t come for another couple of months, till then I´ll have to settle for black foregrounds or use water. Not 100% sure on what those lights are that you see there by the water, probably summer cottages.

Am gearing up for another season of borealis shooting so you are going to be seeing a lot of these from me in the next couple of months, feel free to vote them down if you hate borealis shot´s, I don´t really care and will upload them anyway cause this is something I love photographing. This is so far the only succesful expedition I have gone to this semester of three tries. Have some more shot´s from that night on flickr if anyone is interested.

Post processing almost basic editing legal except I but a separate curves adjustment on the sky and ground and a very mild burning of a small portion of the sky. Other than that just raw conversion.

I might but I don´t do editing requests, I like those lights there and they will not be going anywhere. Thx for the comment!

Ever gonna have it available for print? I love borealis shots, and the clouds with the light on them sets this one apart from most of the others. (In a good way, the clashing colors are great).

If you do ever have it available for print, remove the lights on the shore first. =]

Interesting cloud layer, The three elements of the green red and gray clouds seem to clash to me, but it must be SO nice to just go out and chill with your camera and music. Great getawa

In my (humble) opinion, this image is underrated. You've got such an amazing juxtaposition between the energy of the auroras and the energy of (city lights?). Not to mention, getting those damn clouds to co-operate and position in such a perfect manner is a feat in and of itself.

This image blew me away when I first saw it and I still think its amazing. Great work!

Two things that separate this picture from just-an-other northern light pic: the thin layer of clouds and the the golden/red sun set. beautiful color combination
