To be completely honest, I have no idea how this shot will do. The technicals of the photo aren't the greatest, and I could have done with a tighter grouping of the people, a better lawn, and more light (it was overcast, and about to rain). But, I had no control over the weather or location, and was on a rooftop, so none of the participants could here me.

I think the strength in this photo is its social consciousness, which I am hoping will carry it to a good score. The people in this shot are students, teachers, and support staff at the school I teach. Our students did an outstanding job, and raised just under $22,000.

About Breast Cancer:
from www.cbcf.org (Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation)

The term “cancer” refers to a group of diseases that affect the body at the cellular level.

Our bodies are made up of microscopic structures called cells. Each cell contains DNA, which stores genetic information about how the cell works.

Normally, a cell's DNA carefully controls the way that it grows, functions, and reproduces. Sometimes, the DNA of a cell is changed in a way that disrupts normal growth and causes the cell to grow in an uncontrolled manner.

The uncontrolled cell growth can create a lump of cells. In some cases, the lump is noncancerous and is called benign. A benign growth is not life-threatening.

In other cases, the uncontrolled cell growth can disrupt the nearby normal cells. When this cell growth continues to invade the healthy surrounding tissue, the condition is cancer and is referred to as malignant.

In a process called metastasis, cancerous cells can break free from a growth and move within the body where they start new growths. This is how cancer spreads to other parts of the body.

strong shot. obviously was in the right place at the right time. But that pink border aint working against the green grass.. I would of opted for white or maybe black.. great shot though and will strike the right chord with alot of people.. 6

The border is distracting.

High marks though, purely from an emotional standpoint.

Nice shot. Unfortunately the border really wreaks havoc on the effect. Nice job. 7

One fabulous group! But that high-contrast pink frame is far too distracting.

Great cause and wonderful POV. A shade sharper and it could well have been a ribbon winner (imo). Most onnovative take on the challenge so far 7

pretty nice picture. I can clearly understand why you chose the camera angle that you did, but to me the camera makes it a journalism-like picture of an event involving a group, rather than a group portrait. (5)

I personally would have preferred a black border or no border, but the group photo itself is fantastic.

The only thing I didn't like was the border, it clashes too hard with the green. Maybe the light pink from the shirts would have been gentler on the eyes?
