 Did a lot of things to this - a composite of two shots of the same flower, one that was relatively sharp but shallow DOF and another that was shot deliberately way out of focus and zoomed, blended in multiply mode. Some minor adjustments in selective color and brightness/contrast, and multiple passes of minor applications of USM. Cropped.

edit to add that by "zoomed" I meant I moved the camera forward during exposure, not that I zoomed the lens.

here are the two shots from which this composite was created - these are saved directly after converting from versions with altered RAW settings, no other processing work was done

I don't know if I want you to crop so much out, but maybe I'm just being sentimental. The effect is terrific, and makes me want to try some layering.

It could be that I just happen to have the movie 2001 a Space Odyssey playing in the room but this is otherworldly. It looks like I'm leaning over taking a closer inspection of a plant on another world.

I need to learn all the neat things that one can do with layering two or more shots. This is a very cool photo. It's like a black light flower (Led Zeppelin, where art thou?) Love the glowing cool blue.

One thing tho, on the bottom right petal, there seems to be something out of place, like you didn't finish painting. Maybe that is naturally there but it did catch my eye.

This is certainly dark and moody with lovely blues- i would like to see more light & texture from the center of the flower.
