An incoming storm at sunset made for this stunning view.
Point of clarification: this is not a real fire. The sunset reflecting off the storm clouds only made it look that way.

Thanks to all who made constructive suggestions. Many of them had occurred to me, but since this was a very last minute entry (submitted 2 minutes before deadline), I didn't have the time to do more post-processing. Will try some other approaches with this shot when I find the time.

Have you tried cropping the bottom off? I would love to see it.

Wow! Love the colors in the upper half of your image. I hope they were able to put out the fire quickly.

Wow! Love the orange here. Not sure I like the lower half of the photo, but wow the top is amazing.

thats a very dramatic sky, well captured in the top half. The bottom half is really dark. Would be great to use a graduated ND filter. Some of this could be corrected in post. If the foregroud was a bit lighter this would really be stunning.

Wow that orange 'centre' is really powerful, I like what it does to the clouds above.

Wow, very dramatic capture, I like the way the layers of landscape have different shades. Well Done.

It looks like you were fighting a lit with the huge contrast of the sunset, the dark foreground and the dramatic lighting in the clouds. Just an idea: forget the foregrond and crop right where the dark mountains begin and use the coulds as negative space. In advanced editing you could dodge the highlights and burn the dark areas in the clouds much more, making them even more dramatic. You could saturate the cloud colors (mid top) to show the reflections of the sunlight. I love the various layers of mountains in their beautiful shades. I think you wanted to show too much in your picture. May be you could try to go portrait, just showing the mountains and lots of drmatic clouds

had cropped off the whole foreground, the trees are distracting from the beautiful mountains and sky
