OK. You either get this or another picture of a Cell phone for technology. There are more than 3 people in this. You might want to call a candid...I will go with group candid portrait.
Thia is Symphony in C formerly know as the Haddonfield Sympohony Orchestra. It is a very young orchestra, a training orchestra. The members use an orchestra such as this to get more experience and as a stepping stone to larger orchestras. The conductor, Rossen Milanov, is Associate Conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra. They have a good teacher.
We, Singing City, are singing with them this weekend in performances of 'Alexander Nevsky' by Prokofiev. Very interesting work, it was written for the film of the same name directed by Eisenstein(1938). The work is 'virtually the only film score in the standard symphonic repetorie'. We sang the work back in 1991 in Russia with the then Leningrad Symphony. I have also song the work with another group with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Note: Singing in Russian is not easy.
Post: Convert from raw in PSElements 3.0 with a +0.33 exposure compsensation. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue saturation. Initially tried some curves but that led me to start all over again. WEEEEEEE! Layer adjustments for levels , Brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Tried a crop, didn't like it. Sharpen. Resize Sharpen. |

A group portrait, surely, but there's no clear subject among them all (and the group as a whole doesn't serve as a single subject, as the eye easily drifts away from it).
If I may, I would suggest a tighter crop on only a few of the musicians, in a nice black and white. The brain is surprisingly good at completing the picture, and it doesn't require seeing the entire orchestra to know that everyone's there. |

nice capture..I think this would look better with a little desat, less contrast and a tighter crop on the top. |

Hmmmmm. not a portrait, and not really meeting the challenge (in my opinion) but its a good candid.. but sadly I need to be consistant and I am marking down those who DNMC.. at least I am giving a reason though eh? 5 |

Background is distracting and foreground is very busy but the shot itself is really cool. You might consider softening some of the highlights. |

Everyone is so serious, except the girl in the middle with the big smile and her hand in the air... good times... i would have used a picture taken with their formal outfits... is this a practice? Where is the director? |

Great capture! Gives a good feeling for the lightheartedness of the group together before THE EVENT. |

Sorry, this does not work for me. Too many things happening in one picture and a registration rather than a portrait imo. (5) |

Would be better if the members were attentive to the camera. |

There are so many interesting groups in this shot. People doing interesing things together in twos, threes, fours... Unfortunately that all seems lost because of the wide angle. Had you shot tele and done much smaller groups, I think you would have gotten much, much more from these people. |
