I understand what your shooting/or what she is doing, but this is just not of interest. There is so much going on. The texture of the basket, snow, deck, rails, purple gown, trees, feet......too much happening here to really focus the viewer and draw them into the shot. I hope this is helpful and not hurtful. Good luck in the challenge.

Your subject's pose lets me fill in the blanks. To make the shot better in my opinion, I'd like to see less of everything else. Cropping tighter on her, blurring the railing (as is it's fighting with her for my attention) The stuff in the basket is too small to let me know what you put in there but too busy to be a metaphor for stuff she's throwing away.

I can tell you are trying to say something with this picture, but I don't quite get the message.

Compositionally, this feels a bit lacking, but the idea is there and remains strong. :) I think it's that the background is a bit busy and the railing adds to that. Perhaps this setup against a clear sky?

Sometimes I want to do the same. Good shoot. I like it very much. If you are interested, I had some issues the can enhance it a bit. The first idea of Letting Go of it All, is free yourself of those chains to your life cycle, not? Well, in this regard, the bars visions are strange. Other issue is about the exposure that has ovexposed parts in the grid and at CD on basket. Good Lucky.

Touching, childhood memories? Good interpretation. Does the background a bit distracting?

THe eye should be drawn to the subject of ths pic - the girl or the wastebasket. However, teh snow is getting my attention.

check the histogram of the original pic and see //www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/expose-right.shtml
