 What I liked about this shot was that the sun was catching the color of the leaf. It was shining thru a tree so some of the shadows are there as well.

I know some people don't like selective desat, but this is not a voting challenge so I can do this hahaha! Also, to convert to black and white, and unmask some of the color created much more of an impact than what I had started with.

I like it to, and normally am ont a fan of selective desaturation. Would be interesting if the the res of the scene was only slightly saturated with the leaves in full color. good use of backlighting for detail.

I'm one of those people who think selective desaturation is overdone and rarely done well. :P This is an exception though (on first viewing it didn't occur to me, so it's understated execution is nice). The shadows you've seen are really lovely - soft and jumbled in front, harder amongst the leaves, and fading quickly to black in back. Pretty.

Color or no color, the light come down on the leaf is pretty magical.
