The lighting seems to have been iffy, leading to a soft image with too little contrast in the colours.

Nice close up here, I really like the colors of that wasp(is it a wasp of some sort?). I think the composition is great there, the one thing I think that could help it be better is if it was on a different color of flower. The colors start to blend together a little bit to me.
