Well... thanks for the great comments. Although this didn't score as high as expected, since the previous similar shot in 2002 scored a ribbon, I'm still happy because I've achieved my first goal.

Too bad this wasn't advanced editing, you coulda cloned out the part of the stem that sticks out under the pencil...

Nice still life shot utilizing the pencil. I can see a hint of shadow from the stem of that leaf thing.

I like this idea alot, the only thing bothering me is a bit of the stick from the plant poking out, it's just a lil, I think a white background would've given this an extra punch... non the less I love your idea, well done

nice lighting. It instantly brings my eye to the tip of the pencil and the leaf. Then there is a glimmer of light on the stem of the glass. Nice job

:-) I really like your idea. The tan background doesn't do much to enhance your photo, but I like the "root" at the bottom of the glass and the "branch" on the pencil. It shouws creativity.

Nice idea and I like the lighting. Be careful with the details, though - a bit of the branch is visible on the other side of the pencil.
