We switched hotels Friday night and ended up just outside of Indianapolis. We decided that we saw enough bridges and wanted to check out the capitol building. The website said the last tour ends at 1PM but we wanted to take pictures so that didn't matter much. But it did matter because the website did NOT say that the building closed 1 hour after the last tour started. We arrived an hour after closing.

So we walked a bit through downtown, didnt get many pictures but it was warm out and we got exercise. Later that night we met with friends and ended up downtown yet again.

This is taken outside the closed capitol building. A bit of tonemapping, B&W, and some dodging burning on clouds. The lower part of the building is lighter because they're cleaning it. [It's nice to know that a whiter building is more important than letting taxpayers in a public building at 3pm on a Saturday!]

Great architectural shot with plenty of drama in the sky and more added with the wide angle lens.

Gorgeous shot - I love the angle - it makes the building seem almost overpowering, if that makes any sense. Great use of b&W.

LOL! You're funny!

Fantastic photo. I always like very light BW photos for some reason. Can never seem to produce them myself. The angle is amazing, as well as the sky. You captured the impressiveness of the capitol building very well.

That's amazing that you can't get in after 2:00pm on a Saturday! But I think most likely the outside is the most impressive, photogenic part of the building anyway, don't you -- with the exception of the rotunda. Those are always nice. And this way, you have a rare chance to get a photo of the Capitol with no people in it. That looks pretty amazing in itself.

This beautiful old building looks so beautiful in black and white. It enhances the old, historic look to i.

This is lovely. I like the wide angle distortion - like it's cramming itself into the shot. Wonderfully done.
