We arrived back from the covered bridge/Indy trip in the early afternoon. As soon as we entered the house we heard Cartesia screaming and crying. Grandma was holding her but nothing seemed to matter. She had a fever of 102.5F (39C).

So after we bribe her take some medicine she calms down a while later as her fever drops. We realize the kids hadn't been out of the house yet so we go to the park down the road.

The original 50 day-ers may remember my post and story about her sprinting and the near tragedy at Great America. This is typical behavior and we fully expect her to run after her every 30 seconds or so. At least we get our exercise...

At the park she played on the swings and ran towards the water fountain. Not at her normal supersonic speed but a bit reduced, due to her not feeling well. She squirts herself and loses interest. I miss the shot.

So it goes something like this...

Dad: "Don't you want another drink?"
Cartesia: "No." [Cartesia goes to try out hand pump in park]
Dad: "Don't you want another drink?"
Cartesia: "No." [Cartesia pets a dog]
Dad: "Aren't you thirsty?"
Cartesia: "No."

Cartesia then goes towards the fountain. I'm ready this time.

Carteisa: "I can't do it! It's too hard!!"
Dad: "Yes you can."

Panel 1: Cartesia does it too well.
Panel 2: Cartesia tries again, but doesn't push hard enough.
Panel 3: Another approach to getting a drink.
Panel 4: Perfection.

Sorry for the long comments, but this is a slice of life.

this is hysterical. it would make a perfect triptych all side by side so you can see the story progress. i love the look she's giving in #2: like "what the hell did you do that for?"

i've seen that look pointed at me so many times in life...

This is priceless!! Thanks so much for posting it. The photos by themselves were a hoot, but your comments made them even better.

I hope your little girl is feeling better by now.

Kids, what would we do without them! :) Wonderful story, precious photos. Quite the character, she is. An adorable one at that. :)

Never apologize for a long post. The stories make the shot become more than a shot. We now have something invested in what we're looking at. There is life behind the pixels. This is very good. She is completely adorable.
