So, this is the house keeping lady at the Super 8 Hotel we stayed at on Thursday evening. It is kind of a strange picture to take. I don't think most people go around taking pictures of the house keeping people at hotels but, this has a funny story behind it.
Ken and I arrived in Crawfordsville, Indiana very late Thursday night after going to Joliet, Illinois to see a Capital Steps performance. We had a big weekend planned with going to the Covered Bridge Festival in Rockville, Indiana and then to see some friends in Indianapolis on Saturday. When we got to our room we weren't very impressed with the hotel and we were unable to connect to the wireless internet they had (this was an essential as Ken is addicted to the internet...hehe). So early Friday morning Ken and I decided to checkout and move to a different hotel for the last couple of nights. Ken left the room with some of our luggage and then went to the front desk to check us out. I stayed in the room to finish up my shower and get dressed. I stepped out of the bathroom to grab my clothes off the bed and I heard the door opening to our room. I quickly ran back to the bathroom as I didn't want anyone to see me when Ken was coming in. As I scurried into the bathroom I suddenly hear this lady saying, "I am so sorry". Ken arrives back at the room and the house keeping lady tells Ken that she thought he was the only one in the room and had checked out, having seen him leave with some of our luggage. It was a completely embarrassing moment for me and at first I let it upset me but, Ken pointed out in the scheme of life it was something very minor. I then began to laugh and decided that it would make a great story for the slice of life side challenge.
I walked down to talk to the lady and see if I could get her picture. I explained that I was the one she had walked in on and asked if I could take her picture. She was kind of suspicious at first and questioned why I would want her picture. I explained that Ken and I are into photography and it would make a great story. Both of us started talking and laughing about what had happened. The lady said, "I didn't see sh**!" It was all very comical, even the tongue piercing she had at her age...lol As I was getting ready to go back to my room a co-worker of hers comes walking up. The lady tells her co-worker that she walked in on my and I wanted to take her picture. The house keeping lady was all smiles as you can see in the picture. I bet I made her day and I have a feeling she told many people about the adventure.
This isn't the greatest picture but, for me the story makes it.

Tee hee! That is funny. Judging by the smile on her face, she probably did get a real kick out of that. It's probably refreshing to her to have someone treat her with respect after she's done something like that. Way to go!!!! |

The neatest thing about these side challenges are the stories, like this one, and the whole trip you guys have been on. It's better than television (because it's real!) and the pictures are just a wonderful benefit. Really appreciate you sharing both the story and the picture! |
