I like the composition and the processing. The sepia tones sure work well here. The sky going from darker to lighter and meeting up with the mountains/hills is quite eye catching for me. |

Very intriguing and well composed shot - makes me wonder what's at the end of the path that the cactus is so carefully guarding. |

I like how the cactus seems to be standing in the middle of the path until you look closer. good choice for b+w. great desert to walk through, though it probably seems pretty ordinary to you. |

I looooooooove how the curve leads right to the cactus. The rocks are interesting too. Love the brown tones for this pic. |

I like how the cactus in the middle is a starker black against the high contrast scene. Very nice lines. |

Louisa, this is my favorite of your walkabout photos. I love the s-curve created by the rocks marking the path which leads your eye right to the lone cactus. Although normally I like more foreground in shots like these so that the cactus appears further away and more "lonely" I think your composition works well. You might try it next time though..get lower to the ground and back some more if possible. The sepia tone works very nicely on this and really looks like an old west photo.
Another think I like is the fairly high harsh sun which really creates some great shadows. This would have taken on a completely different feel on a cloudy day with soft light. |
