My nephew, Brayden, had a Saturday night sleepover for his birthday.

Background -- My brother, his wife, and four boys lived in a tiny (think 800ish square feet, maybe a bit bigger) two bedroom house until they got this one built. By most standards, this thing is huge, so when the boys wanted to have birthday parties, my brother said sure.

Their idea of a birthday party is to invite all of their closest friends (Chase had 15 over last Spring, Brayden had 31 this fall) for a Saturday night sleepover.

It worked like this. After the football game on Saturday, all the boys went home and showered, then met at another field to watch Chase's team (the 11 - 4 shot Saturday). After that game, they all piled into some vans and went to my brothers house.

Sunday morning, all the boys went to church with Brayden (a lot of them go to the same church anyway), then after church, back to the house for a cookout.

The rule is -- take your shoes off at the door. What you see is but a small sample of the offerings. If I had had a wider angle lens, I would have shown the whole porch. In front of the door were the shoes, and on the other end were all the duffel bags, sleeping bags, comforters, jackets, etc. Quite an assemblage.

The amazing thing was how well behaved all of them were. In the whole event, only two spills, nothing broken, and no fights. If you asked the boys to do anything, they said "Yes, Ma'am." and did it.

It was fun. I was only there for the cookout part, and I don't think I could have handled the whole event, but my SIL and brother were loving it. :)

Ahhhh, they know the trick of relishing these times. I still smile remembering the BOYS all milling around our little house. Now the "boys" are "men" age 24 and 27 and no more hordes of teenagers. So sad.

Edit: forgot to say ... great real life shot.

Sounds and looks like a good time was had by all. Hats off to those parents for allowing what I'm sure will be a night of special memories.

What a fun story! Love your photo to illustrate it. I think this must have been a veritable sea of shoes. The BW treatment is amazing.

Wonderful. I think this expresses the chaos better than a room full of kids.

Woah!! It scares me to think of this, though I know the day will come soon. :) Kudos to them for being those kinds of great parents that just want their kids to be happy and don't mind a little controlled chaos every once in awhile. You're photo is perfect at getting the point across. :)

I saw this thumb and it immediately evoked kids & party. :) Great slice of life capture here.

Smile and keep having fun!

Now, go out and pick up a 10-20 so we can see the rest of the story next time. He-he.
