Had something earlier in the week that was a stretch. Also did some stained glass details but they were missing like orange in one an purple in another. So....
I made a new background in PSElements 3.0 using a blank canvas and overlaying the grid. Selected each horizontal grid line and used the paint bucket tool to add each of the colors. Selected the first six grid lines and copied and pasted down the canvas. A slight crop on the right to even out and filled in some white areas with red. Displayed the background on my monitor. Set a pile of books in front of the monitor, the top covered with the shiny side up of a piece of aluminium foil. Put the vase on top and took several shots. Went with the fool vase this time instead of part of it cause I liked the mass of colors on the foil.

Post: Convert from raw in PSElemtns3.0 with a +0.67 exposure compensation. The blue had engulfed the purple in the image so I did two layers of selevtive color to bring it back. Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. Slight CCW rotation to straighten the lines of color in the background. Crop and cropped again for aspect ratio. Curves adjustment. Re-crop and again for aspect ratio cause I did not like the purple at the top of the image. Sharpen. Resize. Sharpen.

in the past X numbers of challenges there has been a lot of similar type photos... but you shot is different and I like it a lot.. more simplistic and that carries more impact - well done.

Some slight skewing visible at the rim, otherwise a good one. (But I think it's making me dizzy...)

Wow - you definitely have the rainbow part down!My favorite part is actually the background. The distorted waves on the glass actually hurt my eyes to look at - very busy. I do like it - just can't look at it for too long. Lol

Very cool stuff - excellent use of distortion of the light using the vase.

Great concept! The bright colours and small stripe hurt my eyes but the composition and concept are good

Great idea, but the image is much too busy. If you had a larger ranbow strip that didn't repeat, you would still get a cool effect without the barrage of colors.

However, the distortion in the glass and on the water is mind blowing (in a good way). I imagine this is what an acid trip feels like :)
