| Lack of DOF takes away some of the impact of the photo. Lighting is good and the shadow is also good. |

| Good technicals, but the subject is a little bland... perhaps if it were all the same pattern, like the diamonds... with the different patterns it's a bit jumbled. |

A traditional African place-mat? Are you quite sure? Thought that was more a part of the Indo-European tradition.
Whatever. This is good photography: and good lighting (not that those aren't pretty much the same thing anyhow). You really have caught the texture of this, with that fabulously soft light. It suffers slightly from being a fairly ordinary subject (despite the protestations of your title), and presented in a quite straightforward manner. Still - its sheer competence puts it far above the majority. |

| I really like the use of light in this picture. The way the object was layed out and the angle from which the picture was taken was well chosen. I like it. |

| I really like the elegant texture of this woven cloth. The undulations help keep me in the picture. I wonder if a book or other object might give a bit of contrast to this exciting subject. Nicely done, in any event. 7 |
