Nice shot. The colors are nice and birds make for a great scene.

Bold framing (vertical), does work, in my opinion. Could just be perspective, but the water looks unlevel. Perhaps some tweaking of colors/contrast might have also given this a little lift.

love the feel of the image but it seems a bit dark - i think a bit of levels adjustment would really bring out the shimmer in the water below while still allowing us to feel the darkness approaching
