 The once the pumpkin is cracked open, it begins to decay. The seeds pop out. The seeds are planted, and the life cycle of a new pumpkin begins.

Woefully WOEFULLY underappreciated. Exceptional for the challenge, and a lovely sad and yet hopeful photograph in its own right.

Too bad on the score, this is a quite original photo for the challenge. I think any time you get conflicting opinions in a challenge (good comp/bad comp) that means you are doing something right. Interest...it has more appeal than most macros you see out there. This is a photo for a different type of audience as far as scoring but the type of photo everyone should look at because there is more depth to it than most.

I think this is an excellent shot. the DOF, the sharpness, the subject. It's one of those quandaries as to why this didn't score better.

The lighting & texture on the seeds is good. Overall composition, though, isn't very interesting.

Technically I find this shot very good (but then I'm no expert so don't get excited). The shot meets the challenge but the subject just isn't very appealing though.
