Thank you so much for your comments on my Power Of Love entry and sending me the link to your similar submission from last month. I think your image is really well done. I don't understand sometimes where the DPC voters heads are at. Your image deserved far better than a 5.35 average. It is insightful, powerful and dramatic, let alone well executed. I have comments on mine about the blue tone I used. I used a blue filter because I felt that red or pink was too cliche...but it appears that cliche colour tones would have been better received here on DPC. On another website contest this month, my power of love image came in first place and received nearly 200 comments from viewers. I was going for the emotional tactic with this layout and on the other website, that tactic was a screaming success. There seems to be a fine line between what is technically well done, and what is popular among the everyday folks. I think at times DPC is out of touch in that department. I know these challenges are geared more to techinical merit, but don't a lot of these photographers also sell their images? Something to consider? Cheers, Sandra.

I think I've seen something like this before here on DPC. What does the DPC etiquette say when it comes to copying others' ideas (except in "Deja vu" challenges)? (Or was it originally yours?) I honestly don't know, it might be encouraged or frowned upon.

I'll start a forum thread to ask about this, just out of curiosity. I'd like to emphasize that although your image triggered the question, the thread is not meant to be about your picture. (I'm saying this because my intentions have been misinterpreted before in a similar situation.)
