Cloud layer flipped and stretched.
1 cloud layer in overlay blending mode - trees masked
1 cloud layer in darken mode - trees masked
Hue/Sat to correct yellows and greens and lighten blue and cyan
Some dodge and burn.

The clouds were shot from a plane window somewhere over the mid-west.
The palms were shot from a lighthouse on the Eastern seaboard.

this is totally brilliant . i love how the trees seem to be emerging from the clouds .. it looks just about like an alien landscape .. the colour and depth is excellent .. :)

This is great! The combination of the images is intriguing and otherwordly. I love the rather surreal perception. It's not readily apparent that it's a composite, which invites us to linger and study the image. Thanks for the little tips you've been offering in the thread. Many will appreciate that!
