Plenty of textures here, maybe the photo could be a bit sharper. Good colour on the bird. Nice shot

Nice shot, but the bird doesn't look quite sharp enough
02/23/2004 03:31:08 PM
Bird's eyes should be in focus I think

Bird appears out-of-focus.
02/22/2004 05:10:24 AM
Seems like just a little sharper focus would have nailed this for you.

Nice capture...the head of the Jay seems to be out of focus. Probably also should crop more of the cedar (hemlock?) in the foreground out.

A bit blurry/grainy, perhaps from using digital zoom, no tripod, or having it too dark then brightening it in post processing? great capture, though.

Nice shot, a little bit blurry but still you can make out the contrast between the feathers and the pine tree.

Your subject is out of focus, losing the testure in the feathers. The background, also out of focus (but perhaps not enough - less DOF if possible), is too busy and distracting.

blurryness does not equal soft texture.

needs sharp focus on the birds eye, and blurred background - I assume the subject i s the texture of birds feathers rather than the tree

This looks slightly out of focus, and the bird could be moved off center to great advantage. The colors are good, though they might be slightly overexposed.

If just a little sharper in focus, this would have been excellent! I suspect you know that, though - it's frustrating when what you see in your viewfinder isn't quite as sharp on download! Still, I give you a an "e" for effort and a better than average score!

If only you could get closer (and a little more focus).
02/19/2004 11:59:59 AM
sorry - this would be great if it were not out of focus.

A bit out of focus...and I don't feel like it meets the challenge in showing texture.

Pretty good shot, not easy to capture. But a picture like this needs to be super sharp to really get the full impact of the textures.

The eye is just not quite sharp enough

Jays are so pretty. Too bad you didn't have snow around him. Anyway, I like the texture and I suppose the tree adds to that as well. Wish the bird had better focus. Just a little off. I also would have cropped a little tighter at the bottom and along the left (and left a little more at the top if it's available.)

With a better sharpness it would be a very nice picture.

Not too bad. Just a bit too bright in the light. Sun is difficult to shoot in. Try a polarizing filter and keep the sun to your back if you can.

lacks focus....3

Lost any real degree of detail here, whether from camera, processing, or cropping I couldn't say. Still some texture, but no real feel.
02/18/2004 09:14:07 AM
lacks sharp focus, beautiful subject though
02/18/2004 05:19:27 AM
a bit blurry
02/18/2004 01:53:32 AM
nice bright and the brd has nice color. much of the pic seems to be out of focus.
02/18/2004 01:30:47 AM
Those guys are hard to capture, so well done, but this images lacks focus on your subject making it almost texture-less.

Unfortunately the bird is slightly out of focus. It is also not clar to me which texture you are trying to communicate with this shot. Is that that of the bird, the foliage, or the sticks behind the bird. Probably a combination, alas I don't perceive any.

A little out of focus. The green branches disturbing and a little too bright. Good texture though
