Thanks to all who commented! I knew the exposure and contrast on this could have been better, but I couldn't exactly tell a tired 18 month old to hold the pose. The baby may compete with the texture, too (but the challenge was only to make the viewer feel texture). I certainly didn't expect a top-10 finish, but what's the deal with the 1 and 2 votes? Is Stevie Wonder participating? ;-)

wonderful portrait! this is what children's portraits are all about. a bit more light on the face ... but an otherwise captivating image. :) |

A great kid shot, and I'd love to have this framed if this were my child. |

With a little more depth of field, you could have focused on the eye and the blanket. But, this is a great portrait. |

The diagonal frame that the towel forms really bring your eyes toward the eyes of the baby. The tonal range that you were able to capture makes this image very pleasant to look at. The great expressions on the face just finishes this composition perfectly. Love the slight hightlight in the eye. "10" |

Good sense of the sensation of freshly laundered cloth. Fine portraiture, but perhaps more interesting to the child's relatives than to me. I can imagine the aunts cooing from here. 6 |

Very smooth! Clever juxtaposition of all the natural textures...including that of the baby's skin. And...it really brings a smile to one's face! This is one cute babyface! |

Totally sweet and loveable portrait which also meets the challenge nicely. The terrycloth makes a perfect foil for the smoothness of the child's face. Nicely done. 8 |

I don't really think your image shows texture, just because im focusing on the child more than the towel the baby is holding. |

Left down corner too dark. Unbalance the picture a little. Nice happy picture |
