 This is a photo of a Hindu altar. Shown in this photo are the Hindu deities Vishnu and Lakshmi. The single light source used is the LED lamp. Traditionally, an oil lamp with 5 wicks is used. But due to fire safety concerns, an electric lamp serves as the equivalent.

It took several attempts to get this photo right. After taking the photo, I converted it to B&W, straightened and cropped it. Thereafter, to adjust for the stark differences in lighting levels, I created another layer with +50% brightness and -50% contrast and applied a diagonal gradient to it from the bottom right corner to the top left corner.

The basic idea for the photo was to include the light source as part of the photo itself which I hope is atypical for most entries of the challenge. By placing the light source lower than the subjects of the photo, the intent is to highlight the contours via self shadowing.

Could do with greater tonal range across the whole image and not just the light source. This would make the figures more dramatic. The shadows are a bit distracting, a completely black backdrop might have been interesting to see

Rules call for "a single, artificial light source." You have several light sources.
