The texture of the wool is good and so is the colour. The fingers/thumb are a bit washed out due to the harsness of the lighting.

IMHO would be better without the hand.

The blown highlights don't help... and clean those finger nails.

Interesting contrast of colors - some dirt and other things detract from the subject

Seems to be a little oversaturated, and the highlights are a bit burned out. I do like the detail you got with the fingers. They seem quite punished.

Great detail, I would try using a less direct flash to reduce the white glare coming off of the carpet and your thumb. Also, try burning the upper left corner so that it doesn't disappear like that.

not sure about this, colors are vivid and strong but the thumb is a bit too blown out for my taste.
02/22/2004 05:26:32 AM
Too bad the intense light washes out the texture of the thumb.

I like the high-contrast/saturation. Choosing to include the fingers actually "feeling" the texture helps to make the photo very vivid... I am surprised I haven't seen more like this. Beyond this, the actual subject seems a bit dull- but I can't penalize you much for that.. 6

Lighting blew out the thumb a bit...great color on the hair.

I like the idea... the shot is a bit too overexposed thooughWondering if it is possible to decrease the intensity of your flash?
02/20/2004 12:30:09 PM
Quite good, in that blown-out highlights kind of mood. the blating of that finger like that does also serve to concentrate the eye on the wool, which is a neat trick. Nice sense of the wiriness of the wool too.

[World Record Attempt]
+ Yeah there is texture present but
- the photo isn't very appealing in any way. The thumb is overexposed, your nails are dirty ;) and the subject can't hold my interest for very long.

Way over exposed and with little bits of stuff in the whatever the red stuff is, not terribly attractive... Oh and after the Scents challenge I've been waiting to say, 'You need to clean your nails!'

Clean your nails, vacuum and turn the flash off. Actually you probably just shouldn't have submitted this picture.

Thumb seems overexposed, and the yarn could have been sharper. The composition is good.
02/19/2004 08:28:22 AM
a great idea, i just find the thumb to be over exposed in the highlights. it just didn't grab me as much as other images
02/19/2004 12:35:16 AM
The lighting is too harsh, the hands too dirty (maybe that was intentional...?). I see the texture, but the subject and composition just don't hold my interest.
02/18/2004 11:22:02 PM
really over exposed the fingers.
02/18/2004 01:21:39 AM
I think the image could benefit more without the fingers (or your goal is to show scale use of a different object), particularly due to burn highlights on them. Good luck.
02/18/2004 01:11:44 AM
not well exposed - the thumbnail is blown out
